App settings

Settings → General holds the preferences that change how you see the app. Client-facing formatting (invoice language and dates) is set per client instead.

Appearance​

Theme is Light, Dark, or Auto. Auto follows your system setting.

Preferences​

  • Auto-collapse Sidebar: on tablets and compact windows, the navigation sidebar folds away after you pick a menu item.
  • Language: the app's own language. System, English, Spanish, French, or German. On first sign-in Gigtime adopts your device language if it is one of those four.
  • Date Format: how dates display throughout the app. MM/DD/YYYY (default), DD/MM/YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD.
  • First Day of Week: Monday or Sunday. This shifts everything week-shaped: the entries Week view, the project Week grid, weekly hour caps, weekly report ranges, and week-based CSV exports.

Time Tracking​

  • Daily goal: the hours you aim to track each day. 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12, with 8 as the default. It drives the progress ring on the Home dashboard, and it is the most a forgotten timer can log when Gigtime stops it for you.
  • Rounding: Off by default. Set it to 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes and timer durations round up to that increment when the timer stops. Manually logged entries are never rounded.
  • Stop forgotten timers: how long a timer may run before Gigtime stops it for you and saves the entry. After 12, 24 (default), 48 or 72 hours, or Never.
  • Review entry on stop: whether the entry Gigtime just saved opens for notes when you press Stop. The full flow is described under Reviewing an entry after Stop.
    • Only when notes are empty (default): the review opens if the timer ran without a description.
    • Always: the review opens after every stop.
    • Never: Stop saves the entry and nothing else appears. You can still edit the entry from the Entries page.

About​

The app version, a link to this documentation, and the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. On Windows and macOS there is also a Check for Updates button. Desktop builds check on their own about once a day.
