App settings

Settings → General collects the app-wide preferences. Everything here affects how you see the app; client-facing formatting (invoice language and dates) is set per client instead.

Appearance​

Theme — Light, Dark, or Auto (follows your system).

Preferences​

  • Language — the app's own language: System, English, Spanish, French, or German. On first sign-in Gigtime adopts your device language if it's supported.
  • Date Format — how dates display throughout the app: MM/DD/YYYY (default), DD/MM/YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD.
  • First Day of Week — Monday or Sunday. This shifts everything week-shaped: the entries Week view, the project Week grid, weekly hour caps, weekly report ranges, and week-based CSV exports.
  • Daily goal — the hours you aim to track each day (default 8). Drives the daily progress ring on the Home dashboard.
  • Rounding — Off by default. Set it to 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes and timer durations round up to that increment when you stop the timer. Manually logged entries are never rounded.
  • Auto-collapse Sidebar — on tablets and compact windows, collapses the navigation sidebar after you pick a menu item.

Account​

About​

The app version, links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and — on Windows and macOS — a Check for Updates button. Desktop builds also check for updates on their own about once a day.
