Client contacts
A client record holds one main email address, but real companies have more than one person. Contacts let you keep track of everyone at a client — and control exactly who gets your invoices.
Adding a contact
Open a client, go to the Billing tab, and find the Contacts section. Click Add Contact and fill in the person's name, email, phone, and job title.
Each contact has a role:
- Contact — a regular person at the company. Shown with a teal badge.
- Billing — someone who should receive invoices. Shown with an orange badge.
How billing contacts are used
When you send an invoice, the To field is pre-filled with the email addresses of the client's billing contacts. No billing contacts? Gigtime falls back to the client's main email address.
If a client has several billing contacts, they're all included, comma-separated. You can edit the recipient list before sending.
Per-project billing contacts
Sometimes different projects for the same client bill to different people — say, a marketing project invoiced to the marketing lead and a website project invoiced to accounts payable.
Open the project, and on its Overview tab find the Billing Contacts section ("Choose which contacts receive invoices for this project"). Flip the switch from Using all billing contacts from client to Using custom contacts for this project, then tick the specific billing contacts that apply.
Only contacts with the Billing role appear in that list, so if it's empty, add billing contacts on the client's Contacts section first — the app points you there with a note: "No billing contacts found. Add billing contacts in the client's Contacts tab."
