CSV import

Switching to Gigtime doesn't mean abandoning your history. The import wizard reads CSV exports from other time trackers and recreates your entries — and, where the data supports it, your clients, projects, and even past invoices.

Import is a Pro feature (the 30-day trial counts). Start it from Settings → General → Import Data, or the import icon on the Entries page.

Supported sources

  • AND.CO / Fiverr Workspace — time tracking (TimeTracking.csv), with an optional Projects.csv for hourly rates. There's also a separate AND.CO Invoices import that recreates invoices, including their paid/sent status and payments.
  • Toggl (Toggl Track)
  • Clockify
  • Harvest
  • Generic CSV — anything else, with manual column mapping.

Files must be .csv and under 10 MB. Gigtime sniffs the header row and shows a green "Detected format" badge when it recognizes the source.

The wizard

1. Select Import Source. Pick a source card.

2. Select CSV File. Choose your export file. For a generic CSV you also map columns here: Date and Duration are required; Description, Client, Project, and Billable are optional. Tell it your duration format — decimal hours (1.5), minutes (90), HH:MM, or HH:MM:SS.

3. Preview Data. A summary of what was parsed — entry count, total hours, clients, projects, duplicates — plus the first 50 rows. Any rows that couldn't be parsed are listed as warnings and skipped; the rest import fine.

4. Map Clients & Projects. Each client and project name found in the file gets a dropdown: Create new, or map it to an existing Gigtime record. Names that exactly match existing records are pre-mapped for you (marked MAPPED); the rest default to Create new (marked NEW).

5. Review & Import. A final summary and a per-entry checklist. Untick anything you don't want, then click Import N Entries.

A progress bar runs while entries are written, and a completion screen totals up what was imported and created, with buttons to jump to your entries (or invoices) or Import More.

Duplicates

Gigtime flags an incoming entry as a duplicate when an existing entry already has the same date, duration, and description (invoices match on invoice number). Duplicates show a DUP badge and are deselected by default, so re-running an import won't double your history. You can still tick one manually if it's a genuine coincidence.

Tips

  • Import clients and projects with their entries in one pass — the mapping step keeps everything connected.
  • For AND.CO, include the optional Projects.csv so hourly rates come across too.
  • If the generic mapper complains that "Date and duration columns are required", check that you've assigned both dropdowns — they're the only two Gigtime can't infer.
